Mavka in the Carpathians: Starlight Scenery Develops Design Concept for Ukraine’s First Licensed Themed Waterpark

Mavka Aquapark in Bukovel is the largest indoor waterpark in Ukraine, covering more than 18,000 square meters. The complex includes seven panoramic pools, six water slides, fourteen forest-style SPA zones, a children’s area with a heated pool, as well as retail and café spaces.

The facility was designed in accordance with inclusivity principles, featuring lifts, ramps, adapted restrooms and showers, and trained staff prepared to assist guests with disabilities.

Starlight Scenery developed the design concept for all key areas of the aquapark, including the entrance group, reception area, children’s zone, pools, showers, SPA, lounge areas, and interior accents.

The design integrated natural motifs, botanical textures, and elements inspired by the animated universe of “Mavka,” while meeting international standards in safety, ergonomics, lighting, and navigation.

According to Pylyp Nirod, Director of Starlight Scenery, the task was to merge the magical forest aesthetic with the functional requirements of a large-scale waterpark, ensuring both immersive design and operational efficiency.

Mavka Aquapark positions itself as a year-round recreation destination in Bukovel, combining leisure, mental well-being, and cultural storytelling for both Ukrainian and international visitors.
